An Austin man, Jonathan Julio Nique, 22, is charged with several counts of illegal weapons possession following a raid that uncovered more than 40 weapons and explosives-related materials at his home. Authorities initiated the search after receiving tips about Nique’s alleged possession of a suspected pipe bomb and his comments about wanting to cause harm, including targeting notable government and religious buildings.
During the search, law enforcement recovered 29 firearms, some of which were reportedly 3D printed, and discovered items that may have been used for bomb construction. Nique, who was recently arrested while entering a courthouse with ammunition, claimed his threats were merely jokes, but investigators were concerned about his expressed views and potential for violence. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17.
