Among the incidents was the May shooting of Glenn Pettie Jr., originating from a reported mental health crisis, which highlights a troubling pattern. Although Baltimore County’s police chief commended his officers for their handling of such situations, the absence of a Mobile Crisis Team response in Sye’s case raises concerns about protocols in place to protect vulnerable individuals. Investigations into these shootings are ongoing, and families demand accountability for what they see as failures to properly address mental health needs.
