Binghamton Man Guilty of Firearm Possession Charges

Xavier J. Tappan-Bright, a 24-year-old from Binghamton, pleads guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree after a search warrant execution revealed a loaded pistol in his apartment. The incident, which took place on January 13, was part of a larger investigation by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, which underscores ongoing efforts to address illegal firearm possession in the area.

As a second violent felony offender, Tappan-Bright faces a substantial sentence of eight years in New York State Prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. His sentencing is set for August 28 in Broome County Court, making this case a pivotal moment in the community’s fight against gun violence and illegal possession.
