A 63-year-old man from Bloomer has been charged with multiple offenses, including operating a firearm while intoxicated, following a disturbing incident at a campground near New Auburn. Robert J. Peterson is accused of brandishing a handgun at two individuals who confronted him over alleged theft, prompting police to respond to a report of an armed person on January 25.
Upon arriving at PJ’s Campground, officers found Peterson in his vehicle with a black Glock handgun in plain view and a second revolver on the floorboard. After initially ignoring police commands, he was taken into custody without incident. Peterson is released on a signature bond under strict conditions, including no alcohol consumption and no contact with the victims, with a return court date set for March 18.
