Jason Allen Glidewell, II, a 19-year-old from Bracey, is in police custody after voluntarily turning himself in for his alleged involvement in the August 28 roadside slaying of Hunter A. Bates, a 20-year-old from Colonial Heights. The Virginia State Police confirmed that Glidewell surrendered to law enforcement at the Meherrin River Regional Jail on September 3, following a tip from an acquaintance.
Glidewell faces charges of second-degree murder and firearm-related felonies and is currently being held without bond. The shooting occurred on Interstate 85, where Bates was pronounced dead at the scene, and a female passenger was hospitalized but later released. Authorities located Glidewell’s vehicle shortly before his surrender, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding this violent incident.
