This case highlights the ongoing issue of straw purchases, which law enforcement says contribute significantly to violent crime in the community.
During the sentencing, prosecutors revealed that one weapon was found in Cordenner’s possession while he was prowling outside his ex-girlfriend’s house wearing night-vision goggles. The court also showed the firearms involved—including a Taurus 9mm handgun, an AR-15 style rifle, and a shotgun—purchased by Sweigard, emphasizing the dangers of such illegal transactions.
