John Thomas Hernandez, an 18-year-old from Cantonment, is charged with felony attempted robbery after an incident at Ashton Brosnaham Park on April 6. According to reports, the victim was ambushed by Hernandez and another individual, who brandished a firearm and demanded money while the victim was in a vehicle.
The victim recognized Hernandez’s voice despite the ski mask that concealed his identity, leading to a struggle that resulted in injuries. Investigators later uncovered Snapchat messages indicating a premeditated plan for the robbery, providing key evidence that linked Hernandez to the crime. He was arrested on May 20 and remains in custody without bond.
