After crossing state lines, the carjacker fatally shot a Good Samaritan who attempted to assist a car owner during a theft in Kootenai County. The suspect continued the spree in Spokane County, where law enforcement deployed spike strips to halt his reckless drive. Following a collision with other vehicles and a police patrol car, he opened fire on officers before being killed in return gunfire.
