Carson Proposes Gun Safety Incentive Act for Hoosiers

U.S. Representative André Carson has introduced the Gun Safety Incentive Act, aiming to improve firearm safety across Indiana by incentivizing responsible gun ownership. The proposed legislation offers a 10% federal tax credit for individuals who purchase certified firearm safes and storage devices, emphasizing the need for safe storage to reduce firearm accidents, suicides, and unauthorized access by youth.

Carson, alongside Congresswomen Robin Kelly and Lucy McBath, highlights the bill’s goal of fostering secure gun storage practices through educational programs and partnerships. He stresses that “commonsense gun safety reforms” are essential for public safety discussions, urging fellow Hoosier lawmakers to support measures that can lead to safer communities. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to addressing firearm-related issues while encouraging responsible ownership.
