Lorne Douglas Edwards Nichols has been charged after a 17-year-old Cascade County girl, Kyrsten Ryan, suffered a gunshot injury during a confrontation following a high school football game. Ryan was socializing with friends near Great Falls when she witnessed a physical altercation involving Nichols, who later brandished a firearm during a second confrontation. After being struck in the neck by a bullet, Ryan is currently recovering in ICU with significant injuries, including a punctured lung and fractured ribs.
District court documents indicate Nichols later admitted to being the shooter and was found by deputies at Jaycee Park, where he had disassembled the weapon.
