A 30-year-old man from Charleston County, Rayekon Daniel Jones, faces serious legal repercussions after officers discovered an illegal firearm in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Crescent Pointe Drive in North Charleston. Law enforcement conducted the stop after detecting the smell of marijuana and, upon questioning, Jones admitted to having a gun stored in his glove compartment.
Jones is now charged with felony possession of a firearm and unlawful possession as a convicted felon, as he has prior felony convictions that elevate the seriousness of these charges. He has been booked into a county jail at least seven times prior, demonstrating a troubling history with law enforcement. Jones has been granted a $5,000 bond following his arrest and booking into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
