Chicago Police issue a warning about a series of armed robberies linked to meetups arranged via social media on the city’s Far South Side. Since mid-August, six incidents have been reported where victims, anticipating transactions or exchanges, were instead met with violence as assailants brandished handguns to steal their belongings and force electronic money transfers.
The robberies have occurred across various neighborhoods like West Pullman and Roseland, with the first incident recorded on August 13. In response to these alarming crimes, police emphasize safety tips, including meeting in public places such as police stations and reporting suspicious activity. As authorities continue their investigation, they urge anyone with information to contact the Area Two Detectives, aiming to curb this unsettling trend in community safety.
