The analysis argues that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) focuses more on upholding the ruling Communist Party’s authority than on readying itself for war, noting that a substantial portion of training is dedicated to political indoctrination rather than combat skills.
Despite this, the PLA has significantly advanced its capabilities, boasting the largest navy and enhancing missile technology. The report highlights that while the Chinese military can project strength, it may not be adequately prepared for modern warfare, raising questions about Beijing’s intentions regarding Taiwan and its potential engagement with major adversaries like the United States.
