Chula Vista Hosts Gun Safety Event on Dec. 13, 2025

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Gun Safety Event on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the South Bay Superior Court in Chula Vista. This collaborative initiative aims to reduce the number of unwanted firearms in the community, allowing participants to turn in their guns anonymously and receive gift cards—$100 for handguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons.

In addition to the monetary incentive for turning in firearms, the event will also offer free gun locks while supplies last. Participants are instructed to transport their unloaded firearms in the trunk of their vehicle, ensuring a straightforward and safe exchange. The collected weapons will be destroyed to prevent them from returning to the streets. This event represents a proactive measure to enhance public safety in the region.
