A 26-year-old driver from Cicero, Robert James Budd, is accused of pointing a handgun at a couple during a road rage incident on Interstate 81, which compelled the victims to call 911 for help. According to the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, Budd was found with three legally possessed handguns and his blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.16%, indicating he was under the influence at the time of the altercation.
The victims reported that Budd’s reckless driving included tailgating and weaving through traffic, culminating in him allegedly aiming a gun at them from his truck. As a result, law enforcement has filed an Extreme Risk Protection Order allowing for the seizure of his firearms and preventing future purchases, reflecting growing concerns over road safety and gun access in volatile situations.
