Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge announced that early investigations suggest the man shot by police in Walnut Hills on Sunday night may have called 911 on himself. Patrick Lyons, 31, reportedly informed dispatch of a “dangerous” person outside his apartment armed with a knife and gun before he confronted officers with a kitchen knife after their arrival.
The encounter escalated as body camera footage revealed officers advising Lyons to drop the weapon. After what Chief Theetge described as a tense standoff, Lyons charged at the officers, resulting in one officer firing two shots. Thankfully, Lyons has since been hospitalized and is expected to recover. The incident marks the third police-involved shooting in the Greater Cincinnati area within just a few days, raising concerns and scrutiny over law enforcement protocols.
