A Cleveland man, identified as 36-year-old Michael Nawaleniec, is facing serious federal charges after being accused of illegally selling firearms to undercover agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Prosecutors allege that Nawaleniec sold a rifle, a pistol, and a Glock switch to agents, who later raided his residence and discovered an additional 19 firearms, including silencers and more Glock switches, which convert semi-automatic weapons to fire like automatic guns.
The investigation began in late 2022 following a tip about Nawaleniec’s activities. Court records detail how an undercover agent recorded several purchases over a month, leading to Nawaleniec’s arrest and subsequent arraignment where he pleaded not guilty. Nawaleniec’s background includes prior felony convictions, which prohibit him from possessing guns, adding gravity to the charges of illegal possession and distribution. His claims of once battling fentanyl addiction further complicate the case, raising questions about the motives behind his actions.
