Colonie Couple Charged with Gun and Drug Offenses

A Colonie couple has been indicted on several serious charges after law enforcement discovered a loaded handgun and large quantities of illegal drugs in their home. During a routine compliance visit by parole officers on February 10, officials uncovered eight rounds of ammunition along with over 25 grams of Psilocybin psychedelic mushrooms and more than 300 pounds of marijuana at the Browns’ residence.

Byron Brown, 45, and Rena Brown, 42, have been charged with multiple felonies, including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the First Degree. Following their arraignment, Rena Brown was released on a $75,000 bond, while Byron Brown remains in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility. Their arraignment is a significant moment in a broader crackdown on illegal firearms and drug distribution in the area.
