Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser has initiated a lawsuit against the Trump administration in response to its decision to relocate the headquarters of U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs to Alabama. This legal action, marking Weiser’s 41st lawsuit since Trump took office, contends that the relocation is a retaliatory move against Colorado’s use of universal mail-in voting, which has been in place since 2014 without significant issues.
Weiser argues that the administration’s decision violates the state’s constitutional rights regarding election regulations and poses a real threat to federalism and checks and balances. With U.S. Space Command being linked to approximately 1,400 jobs and a $1 billion annual economic impact in Colorado, the lawsuit seeks to halt the relocation while the case is pending to protect the state’s interests in the aerospace and defense sectors.
