Two Colorado men, Christian Granat and Aiden Fritz, are arrested for allegedly running a sophisticated operation that produces 3D-printed “machine gun conversion devices” (MCDs) intended for sale across the United States. Following a tip-off from a confidential informant, federal agents discovered that the duo was using a home in Colorado Springs to manufacture hundreds of these devices, which they concealed in toy LEGO boxes to evade detection.
Court documents reveal that Granat and Fritz not only sold the MCDs but also received payments through CashApp for their illegal activities. A search of their residence led to the recovery of approximately 300 conversion devices and additional firearms. The pair faces six federal charges related to possessing and manufacturing machine guns, highlighting the increasing scrutiny on the intersection of 3D printing technology and gun control laws.
