The Columbia Police Department announces a gun turn-in event scheduled for July 24, partnering with Vonyetta Watson, the mother of gun violence victim Julian ‘JuJu’ Keel. This initiative comes in response to rising concerns over gun violence following Keel’s tragic death during a graduation party in June 2024.
Residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted firearms at Second Nazareth Baptist Church from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. without facing any legal questions. The event aims to facilitate safe disposal of firearms and is part of broader community efforts to combat gun-related incidents in the area.
