Columbia Violence Prevention Leader Engages Youth Council

The leader of Columbia’s Office of Violence Prevention, D’Markus Thomas-Brown, will meet with the city’s youth advisory council this Tuesday evening to discuss critical strategies aimed at reducing youth violence. During the meeting, council members will receive an introduction to Thomas-Brown and hear a presentation outlining the office’s goals, including a focus on collaborative community efforts to tackle the root causes of violence.

In light of recent incidents of youth violence, Thomas-Brown plans to present a proposal for a comprehensive analysis of gun violence and its drivers over the past two years. He emphasizes the importance of understanding who is actively engaging with at-risk youth in the community. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Columbia City Hall and aims to foster essential dialogue between city officials and young community leaders.
