Columbus Police Expand Non-Fatal Shooting Investigation Team

Columbus police announce plans to expand their specialized Non-Fatal Shooting Team, which has achieved an impressive 75% solve rate in the Linden area over the past 18 months. This increase in efficiency, up from a previous 45%, comes as the city grapples with rising gun violence that has left residents seeking safety and reassurance in their neighborhoods.

The success of this unit is highlighted by significant recent cases, including one investigation that led to 138 criminal charges against four suspects linked to multiple robberies. Mayor Andrew Ginther emphasizes the importance of this unit, stating, “The difference between a fatal and a non-fatal shooting can come down to inches, or seconds.” As plans are set to expand the team further across Columbus next spring, residents express their hope for improved safety.
