Congressman Dave Taylor has introduced the Make American Guns Again (MAGA) Act, which aims to ensure that all small arms and light weapons used by the U.S. military are manufactured in America. The legislation directs the Department of Defense to report on the current procurement of arms made outside the U.S. or by foreign-owned subsidiaries, addressing potential national security risks posed by foreign control over military supplies.
The MAGA Act has garnered support from several congressional colleagues who echo Taylor’s call for a completely American-owned defense supply chain. If enacted, the bill mandates that within 180 days, the DoD must provide recommendations on prioritizing domestic manufacturing to bolster American jobs and strengthen the military’s independence from foreign influence.
