Connecticut AG Targets Accountability in Gun Industry

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong commends state legislators for passing House Bill No. 7042, which strengthens accountability measures for firearm industry players. The legislation empowers Tong’s office to pursue civil actions against gun manufacturers and retailers failing to prevent sales to individuals prohibited from owning firearms, thereby promoting greater public safety.

The bill, pending approval from Governor Ned Lamont, also allows private citizens to file lawsuits for damages incurred due to inadequate safety measures in the gun industry. Tong emphasizes that this initiative will not impact responsible gun owners, while underscoring his commitment to hold accountable those who violate state safety laws. As Connecticut continues to advocate for stringent gun regulations, this bill represents a significant step towards curbing gun violence.
