Albert Rene Saucedo, a convicted felon from San Antonio, is arrested for allegedly procuring 21 firearms—including numerous stolen weapons—for an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The agency’s investigation highlights a concerning trend, as Texas and Arizona are reported to be leading in firearms traced back to crimes in Mexico, with hundreds of guns linked to illicit activities across the border.
According to court documents, Saucedo began advertising firearms on social media, leading to a rapid exchange wherein he allegedly sold or brokered the sale of multiple firearms within just over a month. The indictment lists serious charges, including trafficking firearms and being a felon in possession of a firearm, with potential penalties that could see him facing up to 15 years in prison and a hefty fine if convicted. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is also seeking to forfeit all involved firearms, citing reasonable cause to suspect they may have been smuggled.
