A 38-year-old man, Benjamin White, is convicted of murder and assault in connection with a 2022 shooting in Hartford, resulting in one death and another injury. The jury’s verdict, delivered on Tuesday, concludes a trial centered around the August 11 incident where Simon Griffin, 33, was killed moments after White reportedly shot him and another man following an argument.
The violent confrontation arose after a disagreement over White’s past criminal activities. After stepping out briefly during the dispute, White returned with a firearm, ordering both men to the floor before opening fire. The surviving victim, who endured a gunshot wound to the neck, demonstrated immense courage by reporting the incident to authorities, leading to White’s apprehension. White is currently held on a $5 million bond and awaits sentencing on January 14, 2026.
