CT’s Firearm Deer Hunting Season Starts This Week

Connecticut’s fall firearm deer hunting season opens on Wednesday, November 29, and will continue until December 9, allowing hunters to pursue deer on both state and private lands. To hunt legally, participants must adhere to specific regulations, including a daily bag limit of one deer of either sex on state land and designated hunting hours from half an hour before sunrise to sunset.

Hunters on state land must possess a valid firearms hunting license and a state land no-lottery permit, while private land hunters have fewer restrictions regarding minimum acreage. Additionally, hunting activities such as using bait or hunting from a motor vehicle are prohibited to ensure a fair and safe hunting experience. For detailed rules and bag limits, hunters can consult the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s deer hunting page.
