Critics, notably from gun owners’ rights groups, argue that silencers do not significantly increase security risks, raising contentious debates about the balance between regulation and personal freedom. The December attack, which left 14 dead and 25 injured, involved firearms fitted with suppressors, highlighting the urgency behind the proposed legislation.
