Czechia is set to expand its cooperation with a Ukrainian manufacturer of Bren-2 assault rifles, a move highlighted during a visit by Czech President Petr Pavel to a Ukrainian assembly facility. During the visit, Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, detailed the ongoing assembly of the rifles under a Ceska Zbrojovka license, with an emphasis on integrating NATO technologies and expertise at the local level.
Agreements signed between the two nations envision a future where Ukraine can fully localize the production of these small arms, including sourcing all necessary components domestically. This partnership not only underscores Ukraine’s growing capabilities in arms production but also strengthens its defense ties with Czechia amid ongoing regional challenges.
