DC Police Identify Man Shot After Knife Incident

Washington D.C. police have identified 29-year-old Surafel Zerihun as the man fatally shot by officers on Georgia Avenue after a violent confrontation on Tuesday evening. The incident began when Zerihun crashed his vehicle into a police cruiser, subsequently exiting the car while brandishing a knife and demanding the officer’s firearm, leading to a tense and escalating altercation.

During the confrontation, Zerihun attempted to carjack another vehicle despite still being armed, prompting a second officer to fire their weapon, fatally wounding him.
