Hunters in Vermont can now check the age of their harvested deer by visiting the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department’s website after submitting a tooth for analysis. In total, 3,261 deer were evaluated this year, thanks to contributions from 1,925 hunters and additional examinations by biologists during the youth and November hunting seasons.
This initiative provides vital data for assessing the deer population and understanding the impact of hunting regulations. Notably, the oldest harvested deer included two does aged 18 years from Benson and Randolph, along with a buck that was 11 years old from Grafton. This information is crucial for wildlife management and conservation efforts across the state.
