Deer Season 2025 Opens in South Carolina’s Game Zone 3

Deer hunting season officially begins on August 15 in South Carolina’s Game Zone 3, covering several counties including Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg, and extends until January 1, 2026. During this time, deer are particularly active due to mating season, and hunters are reminded of important regulations regarding tagging and reporting their harvests.

All deer must be tagged with a valid deer tag before being transported, and hunters are required to use the SC Game Check system to report their harvest by midnight on the day of the kill. With the use of mobile apps and multiple reporting methods, including texting and calls, compliance with these regulations is designed to ensure sustainable hunting practices in the region.
