San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies are actively searching for 18-year-old Cameron Johnson, who is wanted for several weapons-related offenses following a rifle shooting incident in Poway. On November 11, deputies responded to reports of gunfire in an open field where they encountered Johnson wearing military-style fatigues; as they investigated, he fled into dense vegetation, prompting a multi-agency search with helicopters and K-9 units.
A subsequent search of Johnson’s home uncovered additional unserialized firearm parts and body armor. He faces charges including negligent discharge of a firearm and violation of a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO). Authorities report that there is currently no indication Johnson poses a threat to the community or remains armed, but urge anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
