Thurston County deputies arrest three individuals after a routine traffic stop for a turn signal violation escalates into a significant drug and firearm recovery. Initially pulled over by a deputy in training, the driver, who showed signs of impairment, called 911 claiming they felt unsafe, which resulted in their arrest on multiple charges, including DUI and obstructing law enforcement.
As deputies prepared to tow the vehicle, two passengers exited, prompting further investigation that uncovered suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a handgun with a defaced serial number inside. All three occupants have prior felony convictions, making their possession of the firearm illegal. Sheriff Derek Sanders commended the deputies for their efforts in removing an impaired driver and a firearm from the streets.
