This year, units will no longer follow county boundaries, a shift aimed at improving wildlife management practices and ensuring hunters obtain the correct antlerless harvest permits for their designated areas.
DNR Deer Program Specialist Jeff Pritzl highlights that the late opening of the season may impact deer movement, with increasing time away from the peak breeding season. With over 100,000 deer hunting licenses anticipated to be sold in the lead-up to the season, awareness of these changes is crucial for both new and experienced hunters.
