A high-speed chase in Chicago’s Jefferson Park ended dramatically when a Jeep driver crashed into two squad cars and fired multiple shots at officers. The incident initiated around 4 p.m. on Monday during a traffic stop at North Milwaukee Avenue, where the driver attempted to evade police and subsequently struck a marked police vehicle. Luckily, no injuries were reported, and police confirmed that no officers discharged their weapons during the altercation.
The driver, who eventually fled on foot after the collisions, was apprehended later in Portage Park, where officers recovered a firearm from the vehicle. As detectives continue to investigate, charges against the driver are pending, raising questions about the events that led to this dangerous encounter on the North Side.
