East Helena Man Found Guilty of Illegal Firearm Possession

An East Helena man, Justin Curtis Huckaby, is convicted of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, following a federal jury verdict. The trial revealed Huckaby, 43, had previously been sentenced for a felony and was explicitly prohibited from owning firearms, yet was found with a loaded handgun and drugs during a police search in August 2024.

Huckaby’s actions not only violated the terms of his sentences but also escalated to threats of violence after accusing another individual of stealing from him. With a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and substantial fines, Huckaby’s sentencing is set for January 8, 2026, making this case a significant point of focus for discussions on gun control and criminal recidivism.
