The Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society launches a fundraising campaign to procure an M8 Armored Gun System tank for its Eastpointe museum, aiming for installation before the year ends. The initiative requires $10,000 to cover costs for a concrete pad, transport, and demilitarization of the tank, with only $1,174 raised so far.
As museum officials highlight, this addition would not only preserve military history but also serve as a striking visual draw for visitors, potentially increasing foot traffic based on past experiences with similar exhibits. “A tank is more than metal and machinery — it’s a rolling piece of history,” says MMTHS President Chris Causley, emphasizing the educational value of such a monument. The museum invites the public to support this mission and increase awareness of the sacrifices made by service members.
