The Emporia Police Department is actively investigating an attempted robbery that occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East 12th Street. A victim, who had just left a nearby gas station, reported being approached by two male suspects who attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
Described as potentially Hispanic, the suspects displayed distinct characteristics: one was approximately 5-foot-6 and armed with a handgun, while the other was about 5 feet tall and carried a pocket knife. The suspects fled south towards Whittier, and as of the morning following the incident, police are still working to gather evidence and seek witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to local law enforcement.
