The Evansville Police Department has released body cam footage of a recent officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of 58-year-old Everett Nunn. The incident occurred on November 22 when officers responded to a call about a potential altercation between family members at a home on E. Louisiana Street.
According to police, Nunn was holding a marijuana smoking device that resembled a firearm, which prompted the officer to draw his weapon after being warned that Nunn had a gun. The footage shows the officer firing six shots after entering the residence. As the investigation continues and an autopsy is scheduled, the department maintains that the officer acted appropriately under the circumstances. This incident raises important questions about police response and the definition of threats in similar situations.
