Joao Victor Da Silva Soares, a 21-year-old Everett resident, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly trafficking firearms without a license. The U.S. Attorney’s office reports that he was involved in multiple illegal sales, including a transaction where he purportedly sold two AM-15 rifles for $6,000 in a Malden parking lot.
This indictment stems from a broader investigation that revealed the trafficking of approximately 110 firearms across eastern Massachusetts. The charges include both dealing firearms without a license and conspiracy, each potentially leading to up to five years in prison and hefty fines. Da Silva Soares is scheduled for arraignment in federal court on July 30.
