Ex-Officer Pleads Guilty to Domestic Violence and Kidnapping

Former Muskingum County Corrections Officer Bryan Catlin pleads guilty to multiple charges, including domestic violence and kidnapping, during a court appearance on October 24. Catlin, who faces up to 16 years in prison, was also convicted of firearm-related offenses and obstructing official business while under the influence at the time of the incidents.

The case escalated after the victim reported the abuse to the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office in May, highlighting significant challenges faced by survivors of domestic violence. Prosecutor Ron Welch emphasized the victim’s bravery in coming forward, stating it requires immense courage for victims to speak out against their offenders despite potential disbelief from the public. This case underscores the importance of supporting survivors and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in addressing difficult allegations.
