A 38-year-old man, Segly Huerta Rodriguez, faces multiple charges after allegedly firing a loaded 9 mm ghost gun behind a Kwik Fill gas station in Irondequoit late Monday night. Police apprehended Rodriguez, who is in the United States illegally and has a lengthy criminal history, after he fled the scene on foot following the gunfire, which drew a swift response from local law enforcement and a New York State Police K9 unit.
Surveillance footage confirmed that Rodriguez discharged the weapon into the air, resulting in no injuries. Investigators have notified federal authorities due to his firearms charges and immigration status; a warrant for his removal and deportation has already been lodged by the Department of Homeland Security. Rodriguez is expected to face federal charges as the case progresses.
