A 38-year-old felon, Joseph Louis Carter, is charged with armed robbery after an incident at a Troy gas station where he allegedly brandished a rifle. Arraigned on November 10, Carter faces several charges including felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm, following the October 30 robbery at a Shell gas station.
According to police, Carter entered the store masked and armed with what appeared to be an AK-47 style rifle, demanding cash from the clerk. Surveillance footage captured the robbery, and no injuries were reported. After his arrest, police credited a collaborative effort among various law enforcement agencies for quickly advancing the case against Carter, who is currently held without bond in the Oakland County Jail and is scheduled for a probable cause conference on November 20.
