Florida Bill Targets AI in Gun Surveillance Systems

Florida Rep. Monique Miller has introduced legislation to prohibit the use of artificial intelligence in detecting firearms in public spaces, categorizing violations as misdemeanors. The move comes as Daytona Beach plans to implement AI cameras for gun detection, raising concerns among lawmakers about privacy rights and the potential infringement on Second Amendment protections.

Under Miller’s bill, AI cannot be utilized for firearm detection in public, while still allowing existing restrictions like those in schools and government buildings. As discussions around the bill progress, supporters argue it is essential for safeguarding individual rights, with similar efforts in the Senate led by Sen. Blaise Ingoglia. If passed, this legislation may reshape how surveillance technology intersects with legal firearms ownership in Florida.
