A man from the Florida Keys is arrested on multiple felony charges after brandishing a knife during an attempted robbery of Chex Mix at a convenience store. The incident unfolded early Thursday at the Tom Thumb store on Stock Island, where 35-year-old Johnathan Charles Shiadek allegedly knocked over a display before stealing and attempting to flee with the snack.
Witnesses reported Shiadek confronted by store employees and customers who tried to stop him, leading to him drawing a box cutter in a threatening manner. During a subsequent police encounter, Shiadek claimed he felt threatened and did not believe his actions were wrong. He is now held without bond at the Monroe County jail, facing charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault.
