Former Doctor Arrested for Drug and Gun Possession

Harvey E. Black, a 71-year-old former Central New York doctor convicted of sexually abusing a nanny, has been arrested alongside 56-year-old Anthony J. Carbonaro after State Police discovered illegal firearms and drugs at a residence in Van Buren. The raid revealed an assault rifle, over 100 amphetamine pills, and more than $7,000 in cash, raising serious concerns about the potential for further criminal activity linked to Black, who has a history of sexual offenses and parole violations.

Black’s previous conviction from 2014 to 2017 for abusing an 18-year-old woman adds a disturbing backdrop to his latest legal troubles. Both he and Carbonaro now face multiple felony charges, and their arrests highlight ongoing issues with controlled substances and weapon possession in the area. The men are currently being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center, and the investigation continues as authorities seek clarity on the case’s implications.
