Fort Benning dedicates a life-size statue of the late Col. Ralph Puckett Jr., a Medal of Honor recipient, during a ceremony held on November 25, 2025. The statue, located at Hurley Hill, is a tribute to his courageous actions during the Korean War in 1950, where he led his Ranger company to repel attacks by hundreds of enemy soldiers at Hill 205, despite being severely injured.
The bronze statue captures Puckett in his Army uniform, saluting those who follow in his footsteps. Family members and military officials reflect on his legacy, emphasizing that the statue serves as a reminder of the standards of valor and leadership he embodied. With close to ten decorations for bravery, including two Distinguished Service Crosses, Puckett’s life is a testament to the values of the Ranger Creed: “Rangers lead the way.”
