The awarding of the Citation of Meritorious Achievement, the highest civilian honor from the Kentucky State Police, underscores the significance of their actions. Tragically, the incident escalated, leading to a shooting at a church that resulted in fatalities, further highlighting the seriousness of the day’s events.
